lsp_vw_576383Sporting Kansas City, formerly the The Kansas City Wizards, are Kansas City’s MLS soccer team. The Wizards played their first game in Kansas City in April 1996, and celebrated their 12th season in major league soccer in 2007.

In 2008, The Wizards  began playing their regular season home games at Community America Ballpark, in Kansas City, Kansas, thus sharing the ball park with its original tenants, The Kansas City T-Bones, Kanas City’s Northern League baseball team.

Community America Ballpark is located in the popular Village West Retail and Entertainment District, in western Kansas City, Kansas, adjacent to the Kansas Speedway.

In early 2010, the Wizards began construction on a new state-of-the-art soccer stadium in Village West.  Later in 2010, The Wizards changed their team name to Sporting Kansas City.  On March 8, 2011, Sporting Kansas City announced that the name for the new stadium would be Livestrong Sporting Park.
